The 46-year-old woman was in her Ford Falcon about 2.15pm on Wednesday when her 39-year-old partner was walking down Campbell Lane at Inverell.
Police allege the woman deliberately drove at the man and struck him, before he was thrown onto the bonnet and knocked to the ground.
The woman then allegedly put the car into reverse and accelerated heavily towards him. Police claim the man was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
She is then accused of assaulting him after getting out of her car.
Police said the man suffered cuts and abrasions to his hands and knees.
The woman was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and driving furiously in motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
She appeared in Inverell Local Court on Thursday and remains in custody.
