It’s a sentimental journey down memory lane to celebrate the Glenn Miller Orchestra’s 80th anniversary.
The world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will also feature 24 musicians, singers and dancers - a presentation that highlights the great “Big Band” hits. The original Glenn Miller arrangements, the music of The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and the romantic World War II melodies made famous by Vera Lynn – music which captivated millions of people worldwide – it is all brought together on stage in a nostalgic concert spectacular. The concert will also feature sensational dance routines by the Broadway Swing Dancers.
The Glenn Miller musical arrangements are unique; even after 80 years, they are still heard worldwide; timeless icons of American culture such as Chattanooga Choo-Choo, In the Mood and Tuxedo Junction.
“The Glenn Miller Orchestra is a colourful and flamboyant evening filled with fun and nostalgia of the ‘30s and ‘40s,” musical director Rick Gerber said.
“Our unique jazz sound is sought all around the world and in addition to recreating the golden era of swing, we bring to life the colour, costumes and spirit.
“Having travelled across the globe, The Glenn Miller Orchestra is delighted to be bringing iconic tunes such as In The Mood and Moonlight Serenade to Australia.”
Glen Miller said: "America means freedom and there's no expression of freedom quite so sincere as music....and a band ought to have a sound all of its own. It ought to have a personality.”
A show that is sure to delight the whole family is the CDP Kids & Tall Stories adaptation of the award-winning children’s book Room On The Broom.
Staged at Capitol Theatre Tamworth on Saturday, October 14 with three convenient show times to choose from: 10.30am, 12.30pm and 3pm, this show is truly a theatrical feast that will leave both adults and children fully entertained.
