Hosted by West Tamworth Bowling Club and running for five years now, the John Paul Vella Memorial Pairs drew 26 combinations from South Tamworth, Walcha, North Tamworth, Oxley and the host club.

Vella was a junior bowler at Wests. His dad John fittingly won the day with partner Terry Rossiter on three wins +56, with John kindly donating his prizemoney to cancer research.

Runners-up were Mark Golledge and Paul D’Elboux on three wins +47.

Equal third were Freddy Hall and Dennis Silcock, and Wests bowls president Bruce Meiforth and Kevin Berry, after both teams registered two wins and a margin of +35.
