A spokesperson said Mr Anderson was helping to organise an event at Parliament House in mid-November.
It will celebrate 10 years of Landcare NSW and showcase the achievements of the Local Landcare Co-ordinator Initiative.
He is also planning to attend the Landcare conference in Albury towards the end of this month.
The new Parliamentary Friends of Landcare chairman was “very happy about the new role”, which he secured last month, the spokesman said.
“As a member of the Tamworth Regional Landcare Association, he feels that it’s a good fit.”
The Tamworth MP said local Landcare groups would have greater representation in NSW Parliament as a result.
The Friends group brings together members of parliament from a range of political allegiances.
“As a big supporter of Landcare, it truly is a great privilege to be able to represent my local groups in a greater capacity,” Mr Anderson said.
“I have worked closely with Landcare groups in my area for a long time and this now gives me more opportunity to share their voices with my colleagues in Parliament.”
Mr Anderson replaces former chairwoman Katrina Hodgkinson.
Landcare NSW chairman Rob Dulhunty said the group looked forward to “building on the great work that has already been achieved through this partnership in the past two years”.
“Partnerships and bipartisan support for Landcare are crucial to sustaining a strong grassroots movement and strengthening Landcare’s ties with our elected representatives,” he said.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank The Hon Katrina Hodgkinson MP for the significant contribution she has made to Landcare.”
