Armidale Archers will be hosting the State Field Championships at their Rockvale Road Range.
Seventy-six competitors will contest the event.
The Armidale Range is dubbed as one of the toughest field courses in Australia.
And with this in mind, it will test even some of the world’s best archers.
A number of the competitors will be looking to post qualifying scores for next year’s World Field Championships.
Armidale will be well represented in the event with a number of members participating in their first tournament.
They will take advantage of the fact that it is at home.
Dennis Carson will be competing in the masters compound division.
He is the firm favourite for that division.
His son Jeffrey, along with Michael Zahner, are expected to be very competitive in the Open Men’s compound division.
Matthew Hooper will be a strong contender in the under-20 men’s compound division.
Other locals contesting the event include Dan Alter in the veteran compound division and Matthew Wolcott and Yan Laurenson in the open men’s recurve division.
Other local competitors include Eva Strucken in the open women’s division and Ella-rose Carson in the intermediate girls recurve division.
The competition is held over both Saturday and Sunday.
The action commences at 8.30am.
