The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) will be encouraging people to ask R U OK? over a cup of coffee as Tamworth cafe Addimi turns yellow for the cause.
Adrian Coffey said one of the barriers to asking someone ‘are you ok’ is not knowing what to do when someone says they’re not ok.
“We need to give people the confidence, skills and knowledge of how to respond which is why we are encouraging people to come to our R U OK? Day event,” he said. RAMHP coordinator Kate Arndell will be on hand to provide information.
“If we are all equipped with the knowledge and tools to answer this question then we can work together to ensure our communities are safe and feel supported,” Mrs Arndell said.
