The Book Week theme for 2017 was ‘Escape to Everywhere’. For the parade, students had to dress up as book characters representing this theme. The judges had a difficult time deciding which students to award this year’s book prizes to, with many wonderful book-related costumes on parade.
At lunch time, the popular mystery readers, who dressed up as characters from the books they were reading, read for students. Class 5/6W made their own shadow puppets based on books from the library and presented their fantastic puppet shows in front of a large audience in the library and the MPC.
Using Oliver, the school’s new library system, students had to check their home page and if their name appeared they could collect a prize.
To finish off the Book Week celebration students were visited by author Phil Kettle who has written ‘Too cool’, ‘Boys rule’, ‘Girlz rock’ and ‘Billy Cool’. His latest series is called ‘Our Australia’. Students were given free ice blocks and had the opportunity to purchase hot chocolate from the P&C stall.
