The truck towing the large turbine blocked one lane of the New England Highway, or Goonoo Goonoo Rd, from Monday afternoon into Tuesday after a mechanical issue stopped it in its tracks.
Police called in the RMS who blocked one lane near the Calala roundabout while staff were still keeping watch of the turbine in the early hours of Tuesday before it made a move on mid-morning.
Meanwhile, police were also called to direct traffic near Quirindi after a prime-mover overturned at Quipolly.
The stock carrier had 50 head of cattle on board when it tipped on the Kamilaroi Highway near the intersection of Taylors Ln.
Nearby farmers managed to herd the cattle into a paddock but three were killed.
The 39-year-old behind the wheel escaped injury.
It was one of two truck rollovers within hours after a 74-year-old male was airlifted to hospital following a crash on a property at Croppa Creek.
The truck rolled onto its side about 4pm on the property near the Croppa Creek Rd.
The driver suffered chest injuries but was airlifted to Tamworth hospital in a stable condition by the region’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
