A football match and charity night will be held in his honour this weekend as a fundraiser for United in Compassion.
Mr Haslam lost his fight with cancer in 2015, but through his illness he also waged a campaign to make medicinal cannabis available to those with a serious or terminal illness.
Money raised from the events will go to United in Compassion, the Haslam family’s charity, to continue Mr Haslam’s mission, which is to advocate for patient access to medicinal cannabis in a safe, affordable and equitable way.
The annual Dan Haslam Memorial Trophy football match will be held between Tamworth FC and North Companions Premier league sides at the Gipps St Fields at 3pm on Saturday, July 22.
There will be a barbeque, raffles, cake sales and refreshments for the ladies and past players of Tamworth FC during the match.
The day will finish with Tamworth FC’s ‘Pink Charity Night’ at the Southgate Inn.
The night includes dinner, live entertainment, raffles and an auction.
The dress code is semi-formal “with a dash of pink”.
Mr Haslam played junior football with North Companions and his senior football with Tamworth FC with both clubs rallying the community to support the cause.
Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased by contacting Kurt Barrow on 0428 613 500 or via email kbarrow@lecac.com.au.
