The Calrossy Anglican School student has been chosen as one of 47 students to join a choir which will tour the Baltics and Iceland in July.
Miss Cantrill is part of the Gondwana Voices Choir and has been busy memorising songs in more than six different languages in preparation for the final rehearsals which begin in Sydney this week.
She said she was looking forward to the new experience ahead.
“I’m super excited but a little nervous,” she said.
“I’m excited to be heading overseas and meeting new people and seeing new cultures and singing some awesome music and being with really cool people. We have about 30 pieces we are learning all up.
“They range from Estonian, Icelandic, English, Latin – we’re learning over four-to-six languages which has been really good.”
Miss Cantrill has been enrolled in singing lessons since she was 12 years old and is also a talented pianist.
She’s also in the middle of her HSC year.
“It’s been challenging, but I’ve taken it step by step,” she said.
“I practise in the car on the way to school every day. I’m managing year 12 with all of this as well so I’ve had to be strategic with how I’m learning everything, but I think I’m on top of it.
“It’s incredible to be with a bunch of musicians who think just like you.
“It’s great to be in the big city as well and among the culture and the mounds of really talented and gifted people
