That was Tamworth 1’s coach Andrew Farmilo’s assessment of his side’s State U18s Boys Championship campaign at Newcastle on the weekend.
“We played well for patches and then pretty poorly for patches,” Farmilo said.
“That probably comes down to people not turning up to training and not being fit enough.”
They narrowly missed out on the final after drawing 2-all with Sydney East in their semi-final.
A game they should have won, as the highest-placed in their respective pool Sydney East progressed to the final.
“We definitely had more short corners and circle penetrations but we couldn’t get that final touch,” Farmilo said adding that they also turned the ball over “way too much.”
NSW reps Ehren Hazell and Jeremy Blakely were among their better performers along with Toby Whitten and Calvin Farmilo.
The Tamworth 2’s kept their place in Division 2 with a 2-1 win over Wagga Wagga in their play-off game.
