Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson paid tribute to the event organisers Chris and Gemma Watson for the event’s success which saw more than 800 people flock to the city for four days of dance action.
”It is Australia’s largest line dancing festival, with dancers from six states and territories of Australia and eight different countries represented,” Mr Anderson told the house of representatives.
“It was a huge weekend with an action-packed program filled with workshops, socials, choreography, demonstrations and amazing competitions.
“The competitors worked for months to bring their best routines to Tamworth – and it showed. They entertained and to the highest level.”
Mr Anderson also extended an invitation to other state MPs to lock themselves in for next year’s event with planning already underway.
He said the event would have brought in close to $1 million to the Tamworth economy.
“For those who are thinking of line dancing as being a tradition of days gone by; then you need to come to Mayworth 2018 to see exactly how line dancing has progressed,” he said.
“It is absolutely fantastic.
“An event like this doesn’t just happen and planning has already started for next year.
“It brings a large amount into our Tamworth economy, estimated to be a close amount to $1 million.”
