Tamworth residents and their furry friends are invited to the biannual free pet microchipping day at the Tamworth Regional Youth Centre.
From 10am until 1pm, residents will be able to give their beloved companions the gift of a microchip thanks to the work of some dedicated volunteers.
TAFE NSW Tamworth Veterinary Nursing and Commercial Microchip Implantation students will help Council's animal control officers and rangers supply free pet microchips. Bookings are not needed for the free micro chipping day but the number of microchips is limited. Any resident of the Tamworth region can take up the offer of a free microchip for their cat or dog aged 12 weeks or older.
Council manager for regulatory services, Ross Briggs, said the free microchipping day is a great opportunity for local residents to have their pets microchipped for free. Dogs taken to the free microchipping day must be kept under control and on a lead at all times. Cats must be in a cat carrier.
