THE weather gods turned on the sunshine, and the crowds, for the 2017 running of the Tamworth Cup on Sunday.

Thousands flocked trackside to the Tamworth racecourse to watch the Tony Newing-trained Timeless Prince take the honours.

It was a thrilling finish with the gelding edging out Craig Martin’s local hope, Mapmaker by a head.
