Many might know Crystal Lindsay (formerly Bailey) from the local country music scene, but she’s traded in the guitar with another dream in her sights. Along with her husband Mitch, the Sydney based duo will soon expand their homewares business Design Twins into the US market.
The duo started making concrete homewares in their kitchen sink about three-years ago with a vision to sell them at local markets for a “bit of fun”.
It’s then turned into a concrete revolution with Design Twins products stocked at some of the nation’s biggest boutique home wares stores.
They will now open their first warehouse in El Segundo, Los Angeles with the head offices of Uber and Google also in the neighborhood.
”We are heading over there in two weeks to set everything up,” Mrs Lindsay said.
“With our strong social media presence, we have already made contacts with stockists in the states. The power of social media for us has been massive.
"We decided that we wanted to go bigger than Australia, as we already shipped to California and they were paying $140 in shipping for a small pot. “Our lightweight pots will be fresh to the American market but with the trend in indoor plants, we think it's perfect timing.”
