West Tamworth pair John Vella and Terry Rossiter were deadlocked with South Tamworth rivals Greg Harris and Les Neaves on 53 shots apiece.
As a result, the countback was required to split the difference and the grand prize went to the West pair as tournament director John Jennison explained.
“The West boys got it on overall ends, they finished 31-22 in front which was quite close in the finish,” Jennison said.
“But it was a clear margin for John and Terry.”
Wests also provided the third placegetters in Bob Cummings and Ron Barnett.
Jennison said the popular tournament was again a hit with 24 teams from across the region, including Nundle and Willow Tree.
“We couldn’t have had such an event without the support of the other clubs and our sponsors Collins Brothers, Laser Plumbing and Ranbuild.”
