Eager to hit the green after the bye in round one, Norths recorded a dominant 74-32 defeat of Tamworth City in Grade 4 action and shot straight to the top of the ladder.
With Grade 2 and Grade 3 not in action until March 26, the lower grades dominated the scene.
Grade 5 saw Barraba a 9-62 to 1-52 victor against Kootingal, while West Tamworth sealed the lion-share of points, defeating Quirindi by 17 shots.
Section A of the Grade 6 competition saw Oxley edge out Tamworth City and Manilla prove too strong for Norths.
Section B featured a one-shot thriller with Souths prevailing 48-47 against Wests.
Souths thrashed Barraba by 89 shots in a lop-sided Grade 7 Section A battle, while West Tamworth defeated Willow Tree-Nundle in Section B.
