BULLET Kid pounced on some unsuspecting opponents to rifle his way to a barnstorming win in Tuesday’s Corey’s Catering Class 2 Handicap (1400m) at Tamworth.

The much-improved Craig Martin-trained gelding unleashed a powerful final 600m to surge past a leading bunch in the straight before notching a length and three quarter win from Geoff O’Brien’s Ti Tan Tiger.
Only Ti Tan Tiger could go with Bullet Kid when they entered the straight and worked home gallantly for a good second in a race where Bullet Kid was supreme despite carrying a big weight (60kg) and jumping from barrier 15.
Jockey Peter Graham was hugely optimistic about the four-year-old’s future.
“He’s just getting better,” Graham said after the win.
He had ridden him last start when a brilliant 2.3 length winner at Armidale in similar fashion.
“He’s flying now.”
Martin agreed.
“I’ve got him in a good spot. He’s rock hard fit.”
