Oxley colleagues and friends of slain Tamworth highway patrol officer Senior Constable David Rixon took to the golfing greens in memory of their mate for the annual David Rixon Memorial Golf Day.
Police Association NSW’s Michael Buko said it was a day for the police family to rally, informally.
“It’s an annual event to get together with mates to remember a mate taken too soon,” he said.
With a retro-themed day, the amateur golfers teed off at the Tamworth Golf Club on Friday morning.
“We had about sixty colleagues, both past and present officers from Gunnedah, Tamworth, Manilla, Moree and Barwon, as well as friends tee off,” organiser Aaron Turner said.
“But the day isn’t possible without the support of organisations like the Police Association of NSW, The Pub Group, Turner Signs, Tamworth Junior Rugby League and Citizen, DTM and the golf club, without them we wouldn’t have been able to put the day on.”
