A strike force was established on Sunday afternoon, as tankers from West Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri and Coonabarabran were tasked to assist with a massive fire that erupted near Boggabri and injured one person.
“Once the (Boggabri fire) was under control, we got a phone call from Sydney to send the strike force to Coolah,” zone commander Tom Cooper, said.
“We had a duty commander and two appliances there overnight (Sunday).”
The immediate threat to property from bushfires was downgraded Monday morning following cooler and calmer conditions overnight.
