It’s that time of the year when romance is celebrated in all its glory.
Thousands of locals have been splashing out the cash in a bid to express their love for the special someone in their life on Valentine’s Day.
Local florists are in overdrive on what could be the busiest day of their calendar year with traditional roses in high demand.
Loved up Tamworth locals have been booking in their Valentine’s Day gifts early, with florists welcoming plenty of orders in the lead up to Tuesday.
Mick Sweeney of Aunty Jax said while there had been some early birds, the business was also preparing to cater for the late arrivals, or those who might have forgotten about their annual gesture of love.
Mr Sweeney said this year had seen a resurgence of roses in popularity with a variety of colours and options on the cards. “Everything has been going to plan, there’s been lots of a pre orders which has been pretty good,” Mr Sweeney said.
“This year red roses have made a resurgence, they sort of waned in popularity – people would go for other things. But this year there are a lot of roses.
“Coming off that we have other roses aswell that we import from Columbia, they are always popular – the rainbow roses, marshmallow roses and of course oriental Liliums are very popular and then you have your every day things like mixed bouquets and flower arrangements.”
