The representative team set the tone for a big day with an accomplished all-round display the cornerstone of a 35-run win against Riverina.
Armidale duo Nick Page (26 no) and Cotter Litchfield (22) played key hands as CN reached 5-86, a task which proved too much for Riverina as coach Kel Walls explained.
“We got a wicket with the first ball and that set the tone of a fine all-round bowling and fielding display to knock them over for 51,” Walls said.
Jack Sylvester (2-6) shone, with Page’s off-spin sealing 2-10. A confident CN completed a fine day with an impressive seven-wicket win against Central Coast.
Page (31 no) guided his side home with 21 balls to spare after opener Beau Parnell (28) laid the foundation according to Walls.
“We haven’t been defeated, so to win the title we need to beat Western then hope North Coastal does us a favour and beats Illawarra.”
