Police were called to the hospital about 1.50am on Friday after reports a woman was abusing and threatening to stab staff on site.
Officers found a woman in an agitated state near the carpark.
Police allege the woman used offensive language and was later handcuffed and restrained and taken into the hospital.
Officers will allege in court the 25-year-old spat in the face of a female constable after she had been subdued.
Oxley Acting Inspector Josh McKenzie said the attack was disturbing.
“It can can be of great concern but beyond everything being spat on is disgusting,” he said.
The 25-year-old woman was charged with assaulting police and will front court at a later date.
“It’s very distressing being spat on, it causes great distress to police officers and their families,” Acting Inspector McKenzie said.
“Particularly not knowing what diseases they might have been exposed too.
“And the stress of that can extend a number of months until testing is completed.”
