Hazlewood was the leading wicket-taker for the Aussies with 6-109, claiming 4-68 in the first innings and 2-41 in the second, and in both picking up the prized scalp of Hashim Amla.
On Sunday evening, Australian captain Steve Smith and the debutant opener Matt Renshaw anchored Australia towards the drought-breaking Test win in the third and final match of the series against South Africa in Adelaide.
In the end it was two of Australia's first-gamers who finished off a seven-wicket victory, with Peter Handscomb joining Renshaw (34 not out) in the middle to hit the winning run right on tea.
The team will break up for a fortnight, with half of the team not part of the one-day squad for the three 50-over matches against the Black Caps that have been squeezed in before next month's series against Pakistan.
