While Tamworth is currently blessed with two dams almost brimming at capacity, Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) took the opportunity to encourage appreciation for the wet stuff.
TRC water sustainability officer Ian Lobban said the message had changed to encourage forward thinking.
“It’s about planning ahead and making sure we’re not behind the eight-ball when the dry period comes,” Mr Lobban said.
TRC will have educational kits available in public libraries throughout the region for teachers and parents to borrow to help teach kids about water conservation.
The kits cover rain, catchment and dams, water supplies and restrictions.
