The New England Highway has reopened at Bendeemer.
The highway had been closed in both directions near Rock Gully Road for a rescue helicopter to convey a patient to hospital.
The accident has been cleared and all emergency services have left the scene.
There are no delays to traffic in the area.
UPDATE: The New England Highway remains closed in both directions at Bendeemer, about 50 kilometres north of Tamworth, due to a multi-car accident near Rock Gully Road.
Emergency services and a rescue helicopter are on scene with traffic response crews attending.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route and allow additional travel time.
BREAKING: The Westpac Rescue Helicopter is on the scene of a motorcycle accident about 13 kilometres north of Bendemeer.
One of the riders on the bike, a man, has been taken to Tamworth Hospital via ambulance. His injuries remain unknown.
A female rider is being airlifted to Tamworth Hospital.
The New England Highway is closed.
