Playing in Moree and led by Mick Kenny in the first round of the McDonalds Country Plate, Inverell batted first and ran up a mammoth score of 320 off 48 overs.
Joe Smith opened with a majestic century of 114 runs.
New South Tamworth import Tom Scoble scored 86 and with Smith, the pair added 191 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. Skipper Mick Kenny chimed in with 38 and Josh Cook made 24. The latter two players have plenty of experience and with a majority of young colts in the side, it augurs well for the immediate future on the rep calendar.
Moree replied with 164 runs to handing the visitors a meritorious win. Joe Smith completed a fine match to take four wickets for 22 runs. Jai Tasker claimed 3-28 and Lex Livermore took 2-48 off eight overs.The side advance to the second round against Glen Innes this Sunday, 10am at Varley Oval.
