A BRIGHT future in football could be beckoning for three Tamworth youngsters who were picked for the under-12s Northern NSW high performance country squad.

Local boys Beau Cavallaro, Freddy Williams and Kilian Apen were picked for the final 20-boy squad after a huge three-day camp at Speers Point earlier in the year.
Northern Inland Football technical director Howard Stubbs having three Tamworth boys in the squad was a significant feat, beating out young footballers from Lismore, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.
“The three boys did extremely well at the camp,” Mr Stubbs said.
“This is the first stepping stone them,”.
“They’re very good players for their age, they have a lot of football ahead of them, but it they carry on training hard and playing, they could do very well for themselves.”
The three representatives are currently training in Tamworth and Coffs Harbour in preparation for a tournament to be played at Speers Point in September, which could be a step up into the 2017 boys’ national squad.
While the boys’ talent saw them picked for rep honours, Mr Stubbs said a lot of credit must go to their parents, whose assistance ultimately helps to open up these opportunities for the young footballers
“It’s absolutely a huge commitment from the parents,” he said.
“The kids are training in Tamworth every two weeks and over in Coffs Harbour once a month, and they also do club training.
“Obviously, the parents have to help with transport and it can be a burden financially.
“All the parents need to be commended.”
