Sunday’s event saw community members and groups clean up 12 registered sites across the region, with 940kg of litter and waste collected and disposed of.
Tamworth Tidy Towns Committee co-ordinated the clean-up of the Peel River on Jewry St, and Galala RiverCare Group co-ordinated the area near the Gipps St Playing Fields later in the day.
Tamworth Peel Valley Lions Club members headed to Moonbi to lead a clean-up around the village streets, and members of the Filipino Association of Tamworth picked up rubbish on Duri Rd near the Lions Park in Tamworth early in the morning.
The Kerr family collected litter along Locks Ln at the Zonta Park end.
One volunteer said they collected less litter around Taminda, since motorists have had to cover utes and trailers.
