On Saturday September 1, 2011, a member of the public located a mobile phone in a shopping centre in Tamworth.
They handed it in to police alerting officers to a number of images found on the phone.
Detectives from Oxley Local Area Command conducted examinations of the phone where they allegedly located in excess of a hundred images of child abuse material.
Subsequent investigations led them to identify the owner arresting a 28-year-old man about 11:40am on Wednesday.
The man was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was allegedly found in possession of another phone which also contained child abuse material.
He was charged with two counts of possessing child abuse material and granted conditional bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court on Monday October 15.
