Mother and daughter Jo Kelly and Sam Szyc, who operate the popular White St eatery, said watching the 2014 FIFA World Cup was a given due to their father and husband Martin’s love of soccer.
“He’s an absolute soccer freak. He loves it,” Sam said.
“My husband has access to all the latest technology so he’s supplying a 100-inch projector screen for us to watch the World Cup on Saturday morning.”
The upstairs area of the cafe will be transformed into soccer
central, with Martin’s memorabilia all over the place and a buffet breakfast set up for earlybirds who want to watch the match in style.
“The Australia vs Chile match starts at 7am, but we will be open from 5.30am for those fans who want to enjoy breakfast and Brazilian coffee before the game starts,” Jo said.
“I’ll be up nice and early anyway. Martin will be watching the match before that – The Netherlands vs Spain – in honour of a Dutch friend of his who passed away recently.”
Any fellow soccer tragics wanting some like-minded company can phone the cafe on 6766 9466 to book in for the $15 breakfast.
