The school has been holding Under Five Storytime since the start of this term, inviting members of the public to bring their littlies along to the library for an hour of reading and craft.
The much-loved We’re Going On A Bear Hunt was yesterday’s offering and the audience was the biggest so far.
As well as participating in the storytime, the parents and children also have a chance to set up an account and borrow from the school library.
Year 9 students helped with the young listeners and Year 6 students escort participants from the school office to the library each week.
Principal Grahame Smith said it had proved to be a highly popular initiative that also helped introduce the school to the community.
“We’re interested in connecting the school with Tamworth and this is one way of doing it,” he said.
“It’s bringing Carinya out to Tamworth and bringing Tamworth into Carinya.”
Storytime is held fortnightly on a Thursday from 9am to 10am and everyone is welcome. The last one for this term is on June 19.
