The 54-year-old man, who can’t be named for legal reasons, is now facing four charges against two alleged victims near Inverell.
The accused walked into Inverell Local Court yesterday after he was charged with new offences earlier this month.
According to police facts, he allegedly sexually assaulted a then-14-year-old girl on three occasions at a village near Inverell between 1976 and 1977.
The fresh charges came after an investigation into the man regarding alleged offences against another victim.
He is accused of a sexual offence against a then-10-year-old girl in 1979.
Detectives will allege the historical offence occurred in the same village near Inverell and was sparked after a woman made a complaint to police in 2013.
Inverell detectives launched an investigation before laying the first charge on December 8 last year, with the fresh charges laid on May 13.
The case will head back to court in July.
