Kootingal was one club to host a round of pennants play although CNDBA bowls secretary John Coulton said it was “absolutely freezing”.

“Sunday was heaven though compared to Saturday,” Coulton said.

“That was terrible.

“Although we were lucky.

“Our Grade 5 pennants side (West Tamworth) had to go to Guyra.

“One of the guys wrote his name in the snow and sent a picture back to his wife!

“They were shaking the snow off their trouser legs as they walked between ends.”

The West Tamworth Grade 4 and 5 pennants sides “didn’t do so well” but the West Grade 3s, down by half a point to South Tamworth, beat South 6-nil on Sunday to earn a berth in the Zone 3 Grade 3 Playoffs.

“I’m not sure where yet,”  Coulton said.
