Businessman and motivational speaker Jamie McIntyre will host a series of public meetings in Glen Innes, Armidale and Tamworth, saying he was serious about being a third legitimate political force in Australia.
Mr McIntyre is the chief executive officer of 21st Century Education and the host of its annual Financial Education Summit that this year welcomes The Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as keynote speaker.
He said the public forums would be a chance to share the vision, direction and policy of the 21st Century Australia Party and answer questions from the floor.
“It’s my vision to assist in the transformation of Australia into a more abundant and prosperous nation ... by providing an economically successful environment that encourages, inspires and supports all Australians to perform at higher levels,” Mr McIntyre said.
Among his plans for improving the nation are giving voters a say on major policies and the elimination of state governments.
He said he had already received a lot of support from around the electorate and rejected a suggestion from member for New England Tony Windsor that candidates who didn’t live in the area weren’t as committed to its constituents.
“It should be looked upon positively that people don’t forget where they grew up and want to return to the area to help, contribute and make a difference,” he said.
His district tour starts on April 22 at Glen Innes RSL Club, Armidale Bowling Club on April 23 and Tamworth Services Club on April 24.
