It was the annual Armidale Diocesan Swimming Carnival and attracted 390 students from 20 different Catholic primary schools around the region.
For a lot of the youngsters competing in the pool the aim was to win their events and qualify for the Polding carnival at Homebush.
In fact the top three in each event is eligible to go to the Polding event, where all of the best swimmers north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the Catholic system will gather.
The best two relay teams in each event will also qualify.
A Polding team will then be chosen to compete at the PSSA carnival on April 2-4.
