A SCHOOL student involved in a hit-and-run accident near Peel High School on Gunnedah Rd yesterday was later taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

Police are appealing for information following the incident between the pedestrian and a light-coloured, possibly silver, utility.
The accident happened on Warral Rd about 2pm when the 13-year-old boy was walking with a school group.
Near the intersection of Macgregor St, the student was crossing the road when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene without stopping and the student was attended to by teachers for minor injuries.
Police attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The vehicle is described as being a silver, two-door, flat-top utility, possibly a Toyota, with a frame on the back for carrying goods.
The driver is described as being of olive complexion, about 40 years of age with a bald, shaved head and wearing a yellow shirt with thin reading glasses.
