She’s a popular resident of the aged-care facility and was showered with gifts including flowers, cards and a necklace.
Sister Ursula is a member of the Dominican Sisters, but stayed in Tamworth when the sisters relocated to Maitland in the past couple of years.
“She stayed because she was at home with us,” Sister Arcadius said.
Sister Ursula began her birthday celebrations with morning mass then enjoyed birthday cake later in the day.
“When she was active, she’d be in church all the time,” Sister Arcadius said.
She has been at Nazareth House for nine years and is the oldest resident.
Sister Ursula was originally from Maitland and was a teacher in Woollahra at a school for deaf children.
Nazareth House general manager Belinda Mears said Sister Ursula’s favourite saying was “happy days” and described her as a “nice little lady”.
Sister Ursula’s niece from the US was expected to visit yesterday afternoon to mark the important milestone with her aunt.
