THE Tamworth Country Music Festival this year was a start to a “country music” festival again.

The buskers, on a whole were of a “country” content, but some were still singing My Way, or other non- country songs. And ... I don’t understand why we have to have a section for “non country” busking competition. You wouldn’t go to a “blues” festival and expect to hear “rock” music, or visa versa. I wouldn’t go to a festival where there was all kinds of different music, if I only wanted one genre`.
Bite the bullet Tamworth organisers and ban the non-country content.
There are so many country music fans who feel the same as I do and they won’t come anymore for that reason. We don’t want, or need the rock, pop or any other kind of music, except country.
That’s why the numbers are down so much over the last few years and don’t tell me the numbers are up, because I have seen how they have been affected.
I was in Peel St one year when Gina Jeffreys was doing a promo in the street on the Thursday prior to the awards night, you could have swung a horse around by the tail and not hit anybody.
We have videos at home, showing where you can’t walk along Peel St on the Friday night before the awards and have to fight your way through the throng of people. It hasn’t been like that for many years.
Think what the country fans want, not what you think should be here.
