Walcha police said the offence occurred in January when the man refused to leave a licensed premises when asked to do so by the publican.
He then argued with police about the matter – and landed himself $750 in fines for failing to leave and intoxicated behaviour.
Walcha police Sergeant Daniel Betteridge said the man had copped the fines after trying to be “a bush lawyer”.
“It is important to realise that if the police direct you to leave an area, you are legally required to leave and not return,” Sergeant Betteridge said.
“Failing to comply with directions can and does result in the issue of fines, arrest and charges.”
