Peel St between Bourke and Darling Streets, closed from 4pm yesterday and will not reopen until Monday at 7am.
Traffic will still be able to flow along Darling St and across the roundabout in Peel St.
Traditionally, the biggest crowds of the festival flow into Tamworth in the days leading up to the final weekend of events which include the Toyota Country Music Cavalcade, the Australia Day Concert in the Park and the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia.
Some additional temporary CBD road closures will also come into play between 6am and 11am on Saturday in preparation for the country music cavalcade.
Council staff will be at work from 3am on Saturday to ensure the series of barricades and road closed signs are in place by 6am.
The cavalcade starts at 9am and the procession of floats, trucks, marching bands, cars and horses will make its way from the roundabout at Peel and Roderick streets through the CBD to finish at O’Connell St adjacent to Viaduct Park.
About 90 entries have been received for the cavalcade.
