Police are appealing for your help after the attempted sexual assault of a woman near Tamworth overnight.

She jumped in the car with the male driver but soon asked to get out and she continued walking along the road.
The car approached the woman again and police say the man got out of and forced the woman into nearby bushes.
The man unsuccessfully tried to sexually assault the woman before taking her handbag and leaving.
Police now wish to speak with a man described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, with a slim build and short hair.
The woman has told police there were P-plates on the man’s car.
