I find it almost impossible to believe that the London nurse who was hoodwinked into transferring an incoming call to the duty staff member involved in the care of the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge could take her own life over such a minor incident: the innocent redirection of that incoming prank call.

I do not doubt that she felt humiliated by her actions, however, that could happen to anyone.
My concern is the support (or rather lack of it) she received from fellow staff and, above all hospital management, immediately after this hoax was discovered.
I would suggest that had the full unconditional support been forthcoming for the nurse involved – rather than “shock horror”, a member of the royal family has been embarrassed – this nurse would be alive today. This aspect should be thoroughly investigated and reported upon.
