Over the centuries, successful cultures were the ones who embraced art in its many forms.
Sadly, Tamworth TAFE management deserted traditional painting and drawing more than two years ago and ceramics more than 12 months ago on the basis of no vocational outcome for the students.
Art does have a morbid side in that so many world-famous artists have been dead for decades and lived in poverty to create their craft which we enjoy so much today.
I understand that TAFE’s policy to abandon visual arts will not be applied universally throughout the state as some select colleges such as Murwillumbah campus will continue courses in painting, drawing, ceramics etc, because there are career opportunities and vocational outcomes.
I’m also led to believe that our disused Tamworth TAFE studios will be transferred to Moree.
To our politicians, why must Tamworth miss out and suffer?
