Full job description

Your new company
Hays Procurement is delighted to have partnered with this leading global Defence contractor as they launch an extremely exciting project here in Queensland. This project requires a newly created Procurement function to drive it and as such they are hiring multiple roles across Procurement and Contracts. Our client has a fantastic brand and offers incredible career development opportunities alongside fantastic hiring leaders that will support and guide your growth. This company offers genuine hybrid working flexibility and also a strong emphasis on work/life balance with the opportunity to accrue flexi leave and take an extra day of annual leave per month which could add an extra 12 days annual leave to your balance every year!

Your new role
Joining this industry leading project you will take on your own portfolio of around 5-10 contracts at any given time. You will be given the autonomy to lead your own end to end Procurements across a wide range of categories whilst also supporting the Senior Leaders with high value contract negotiations. You will be developed by a truly inspirational Leadership team whilst also being trusted to deliver on your own contracts. Your role will initially be heavily Procurement focussed and will move through the life cycle to contract management as the project becomes operational, giving you the opportunity to further develop your end to end Procurement and Contracts abilities.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have extensive Procurement and Contract negotiation experience from a heavy industry sector ideally however other sectors will be considered. Ideally you will have run your own contract negotiations and have a desire to progress onto higher value, more complex Procurement negotiations during the Project’s lifecycle. Defence experience would be highly regarded but is not essential, however you must be an Australian Citizen that is comfortable in the company supporting you to achieve NV1 Security clearance. Strong interpersonal communication skills are a must, combined with the ability to hit the ground running.

What you'll get in return
In return you will be working in a fast paced and highly professional environment, with opportunities to expand your knowledge of Procurement, working alongside some of the best Procurement leaders in the industry. You will be supported to secure NV1 security clearance and benefit from a 37.6 hour working week, so if you work additional hours you can secure up to 12 additional annual leave days per year. WFH flexibility is also a key offering that this organisation will continue to commit to long term.
