Guests from far and wide donned their finest and braved the chilly evening air at Peterson’s Guesthouse and Winery to watch the flesh-toned evening gown by Susan Thompson take out the highly sought-after main prize under the starlit runway.
Judge Charlotte Smith, from the Darnell Collection, declared the winning gown “simple and elegant, proving you don’t need a lot of fluff or bling to win”.
Organiser Liz Foster, resplendent in bright-red wool, declared the night a huge success.
“It was a great night of fashion, with a lovely historic venue as the backdrop,” she said.
Eighty-six finalist garments in 10 categories made their appearance on the white wool-covered runway, borrowed specially from Sydney for the evening, with host Deborah Hutton keeping the guests entertained.
The event managed to attract the likes of British fashion correspondent Colin McDowell, from The Sunday Times, who described wool as “an extremely versatile fabric” and said he enjoyed the night immensely.
