BINDI Cheers enjoyed a cup deja vu when Zippy Zariz rushed home from back in the field to win yesterday's $30,000 Tooheys New Armidale Cup (1900m).

The Taree trainer won the Thunderbolt 2YO with Zar Zar Binks earlier in the day before Zippy Zariz exploded away with the cup, beating the Luke Griffith-trained Kwila's Law by a half neck. Armidale-trained Dusty's Felt was a long neck away third. "I did the same yesterday, won the cup and two-year-old at Taree too," Cheers said.
"A real deja vu day."
It showed her talent as a trainer to pick the right races for her four winners after nominating them all at Taree and Armidale.
Nikody won the two-year-old race at Taree while Unctuous won the Wingham Cup. Yesterday Zar Zar Binks won the Thunderbolt 2YO before Zippy Zariz won Cheers her first Armidale Cup.
"That was a pretty good effort too," she said of Zippy Zariz.
"He's only a three-year-old."
She and husband Peter have a happy working partnership, training only horses they own.
Armidale has become a good track for them while Jessica Drury, who had won the Armidale Newmarket with Sue Grill's Tomcatnaround the race before, also celebrated her first Armidale Cup.
"I've never liked the track that much," the 22-year-old apprentice said.
"Not my favourite, but a track where I've had a lot of success."
She's been riding four years and yesterday's Newmarket-Armidale Cup double chalked up her 130th win.
Indentured to Craig Martin at Tamworth, she's on loan to Desleigh Forster in Brisbane.
"I've been up there a month," she said.
"It's not too bad."
Winning the feature sprint-cup double made the trip well worthwhile.
"Pretty exciting," she said.
"I didn't expect it. I thought he was a good chance, but you never go out expecting to win."
Zippy Zariz was having his 30th start yesterday and has now won six times.
Runner-up Kwila's Law was having his 64th start and chasing a ninth win.
"I thought he was home," Luke Griffith said.
"That's 15 seconds now for him and I've had about eight seconds myself this week too."
