A MAN and a woman allegedly submitted a fraudulent insurance claim for a campervan before it erupted in flames near Tamworth eight months ago.

The Bendemeer couple, who now live on the Mid North Coast, have been charged, accused of an elaborate insurance fraud.
Police will allege a fraudulent insurance claim was submitted for the camper, before it went up in flames on January 18.
Emergency services were called to the fire at a property, where they were living, but the campervan was destroyed.

Oxley detectives launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire, which they claimed was suspicious.
After investigations, detectives uncovered evidence they allege shows a fraudulent claim for insurance had been submitted - prior to the fire erupting.
The investigations culminated in the arrest of a 50-year-old at Kempsey Police Station on Tuesday afternoon, after Oxley detectives travelled to the Mid North Coast.
Shortly after, a 52-year-old man was arrested.
Both have been charged with two counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception and were granted bail to front Tamworth court later this month.
No charges have been laid in relation to the fire.
