The DiaBuddies day, which is being hosted by Diabetes NSW & ACT, has been designed so kids living with type 1 diabetes and their families can have some fun and learn more about managing their diabetes in a safe and supportive environment.
Diabetes is a serious condition that can lead to a number of health issues if not managed well.

“Children living with diabetes often feel different because they need to monitor their blood glucose, take insulin and pay careful attention to their diet, exercise and general health,” CEO, Sturt Eastwood said.

“Days like this, let them know they are not alone because they get to meet and have fun with other children living with diabetes.
“The day also provides a genuine opportunity for families and carers to get together, share experiences and create a support network,” he said.
There are over 3,600 people living with diabetes in the Tamworth Local Government Area. Twelve percent are living with type 1 diabetes. The rate of type 1 diabetes in Tamworth is above the national average of nine percent.
“Diabetes is a serious condition that can lead to a number of health issues if not managed well, so it’s vital for families to have a good diabetes management plan,” Mr Eastwood said.
On the day kids will be given an All Access Pass to enjoy the Trampolines, Dodgeball Arena, Foam Pit and Tumble Wall.
