Armidale detectives allege the 16-year-old was armed with a knife when he broke into the Golgotha Street home about 9.30pm on March 25.

Officer-in-charge Inspector Roger Best said the teenager allegedly broke in through a window and threatened the woman, aged in her twenties, with a knife.

“Once inside, three offenders robbed a woman of a phone and other goods and fled the premises,” he said.

“A crime scene was established, and following investigations by Armidale detectives, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Armidale on Thursday.”

The teen was questioned and charged with aggravated break-and-enter and robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail and appeared in an out-of-sessions bail hearing in Armidale Children’s Court on Friday where he was granted bail.

Inspector Best said detectives were appealing for help to find the other offenders.

“Investigations are continuing to establish the identity of the other offenders involved,” he said.

“Police would appeal for public help from anyone who might have seen the offenders, who were dressed in dark clothing, in the vicinity of the Golgotha Street property on the night of March 25.”
